cool figures I won't get
Happy October! We're officially entering my favorite time of the year: fall. Cold weather, pumpkin spice, apples, and Halloween galore!
Today though, I want to talk about one of my hobbies: figure collecting. At some point I want to put together a page on my website dedicated to my figures, but for now you can check out my collection over on MFC
With the exception of an Isabelle nendoroid, I pretty strictly only get vocaloid figures. It's a self-imposed limit so I don't spend too much and because I know my interest in vocaloid won't wane, so I know I'll love my collection for many years down the line.
I try to be extra careful. I want to make sure I really like something before I cough up my money, because some of these can get expensive. In another entry, maybe I'll talk in depth about the figures I own, but in this entry I want to talk about the figures I passed up and why.
01.POP UP PARADE Hatsune Miku: Future Eve Ver. L Size
Magical Mirai Miku 2022 is sooooo pretty! A solid S tier design (alongside 2021's!). Even as I type this, I am tempted to get this figure! However! As gorgeous as it is, it's a no from me.
Firstly, this figure is pretty large and I simply don't have the space on my shelf for it at the moment! The second big issue are the twin tails. I'm surprised by how accurately they are rendered as seen here in the Future Eve music video. They're beautiful! But they don't look as if they have the best support poles...I imagine they would sag and the figure would look a lot less amazing...
Amazing figure, but I can't put something this beautiful on my shelf knowing her poor hair would get all droopy :^(
02.Kasane Teto Nendoroid
Too expensive. If you can even find a listing of her! I've been hoping since we got SynthV Teto that we'd get a re-release of this nendoroid...or maybe even a synthV teto! But (I'm being a grumpy negative nancy here, sorry) since GSC is a miku machine I...really don't think we're gonna get any vocaloid that aren't cryptonloids any time soon.
03.16th Birthday nendoroid Miku
Such a cutie! I love the wings and that she has a little V2 box prop!! Rella really knocked it out of the park with this design. Unfortunately, she's much too expensive for how little accessories you get. And the preorder bonuses do not make up for it at all. It's sad too see how little parts nendoroids have been getting lately for the amount they are going for. Especially when it comes to ones that are a bit of a bigger deal, such as this being for Miku's 16th anniversary.
04.pop up parade maka
Ok, the reason is fairly obvious. She's not vocaloid. But wow does Maka look great! I rarely see anything Soul Eater anymore, so you can see why this tempted me. I loved this anime as a kid...hell, I still love it. But if it's not vocaloid, it's a no! Sorry Maka!
05.pop up parade BRS
Technically vocaloid, but also technically not? BRS originated this song written and produced by Ryo, illustrated by Huke, feat. Miku. Even though no depiction of her references vocaloid, she's still intrinsically linked to it. So I would consider any BRS figures fair game.
But I decided to pass on this one, as well as the nendoroid version. This is a really cool design (following the disappointment that was the DAWNFALL BRS...yuck) but her pose is kinda lame...I know it's a pop up parade and those are more cheap than scales, but it would have been cool to have her do a bit more of an action-y pose.

This is another large figure that I would have trouble finding space for on my shelf. She's also a bit pricey! Out of curiosity, I've been keeping my eye on listings for resales...and they're really not much less expensive than her retail price...
Not going to lie, I'm going to keep my eyes on listings and hope for some price drops. ...So I guess she shouldn't really be on this list? But it would take a pretty big price drop for me to actually consider getting here, so I say this still counts!
